When you know you need a break.

How many times have you thought that I need a break and just felt that you can’t because there is so much to do? I hear this many a time from both clients and other business owners.

When you feel like this, it is usually because your body is telling you that you need to stop. It is either exhausted, fighting infection, or just generally running at its all-time low. Increasingly this is leading to burnout in many people, and increasing stress levels are prevailing.

What is burnout?

Burnout is a state of physical and emotional exhaustion. It can occur when you experience long-term stress in your job or have worked in a physically or emotionally draining role for a long time.

So what should we do when our body is feeling this way?

Well, the simple answer is STOP and listen to your body.

But sometimes, this is not as easy as it seems. I remember when I first started Urban

Soul Holistic Therapy and was starting this process with a newborn and a full/part-time job. I don’t know how I did it all. People now say to me you must have been Superwoman, but I think I was burning the candle at both ends and knew at some point the pressure would take its toll.

Your health is the most important thing, and without this, you can’t function properly or effectively. Remember the saying you can’t pour from an empty cup?

Sometimes it is remembering to prioritise yourself in the bigger picture and truly decide what is important to you.

If you are not 100%, then you will struggle to look after the ones you need to anyway.

Try and incorporate some of the following things into your daily routines.

o Meditate

o Getting out in the fresh air

o Mindfulness

o Exercise

o Eating healthy

o Balancing your mindset

All of these things will aid you in being the best you.
